ClearOne Advantage is a leader in the debt-relief industry. Since 2008, we've helped thousands of clients resolve large credit card bills and other unsecured debts – all without upfront fees or the need for personal bankruptcy.
At ClearOne, we work with you to create a custom, confidential debt relief plan you can afford. Our certified debt specialists negotiate lower final payment amounts with creditors, so you can pay back a reasonable portion of your bills – at a level we know they will accept. Debt resolution - sometimes called debt settlement or debt consolidation - isn't for everyone, but those who stick with the program typically pay off their enrolled debts within three to four years. Our plans' lower monthly payment often leaves clients with more cash on hand to spend as needed.
Tomas Gordon, our founder, got involved in the debt-relief industry at a time when millions of Americans were in financial trouble. Newly out-of-work or struggling to get by on reduced hours, many had maxed out their credit cards and could not afford to make the minimum monthly payments. They were out of time, out of money, and, frequently, out of options.
Few qualified for debt consolidation loans, and new bankruptcy laws, passed in 2005, had made it much harder to discharge unsecured debt. Gordon believed people deserved better. He was determined to treat them fairly and help them get a second chance.
Back then, the debt settlement industry was largely unregulated. Many unscrupulous companies charged upfront fees and over-promised results. ClearOne never did. We only received our fees if we saved a client money in a debt settlement. We also offered our clients a solid, 30-Day Satisfaction Guarantee. We still do.
Our approach helped clients get out of debt sooner. It also kept our interests closely aligned with theirs. In 2010, when new federal regulations finally made fair customer treatment an industry standard, we welcomed it.
Customer satisfaction always has been central to our mission and success. It's reflected in the customer feedback we receive. Three thousand ClearOne Advantage customers have rated our service online at business-monitoring site trustpilot.com. Their average score of 9 out of 10 remains a great source of company pride. We're also proud of our high ratings on TrustPilot.
Our positive reputation fueled growth. In 2012, Smart CEO Magazine listed us as one of the 50 Fastest Growing Companies in Baltimore. That same year Ernst & Young named Gordon a finalist for “Entrepreneur of the Year.” More recognition followed as we made Inc. Magazine's 500/5000 list as the top-ranked financial services firm in Maryland and the 25th highest ranked financial services firm nationwide.
Through it all, we've remained Baltimore-based and deeply involved in the local community. We have become long-time supporters of The House of Ruth, which provides shelter to victims of domestic violence, and of the Baltimore chapter of Junior Achievement. Nationally, we continue to back the activities of American Cancer Society and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society – and the important medical research that they champion.
Seeking to improve transparency in the cost of health services, federal actions in the past few years have led to new federal rules and regulations for health systems, benefit administrators, and health plan sponsors. The most urgent deadline for employers relates to the Transparency in Coverage rules that apply to employer-sponsored group health plans. The rules require group plans to disclose their rates and other price information for all covered billable services.
